'Acid test' - Peterborough chief on upcoming clashes with Bolton Wanderers, Derby & Portsmouth

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony believes the club's upcoming run of away games which includes Bolton Wanderers will be an 'acid test' for his side.

Posh were relegated to League One at the end of last season but have made a good start to life back in the third tier of English football.

Peterborough sit second in the table after five matches of the season and are only behind Ipswich Town in the standings. Posh have won four of their five games of the campaign.

Wanderers have had a challenging start to the campaign with clashes against Ipswich Town, Wycombe Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday already done. The challenges keep coming with a long trip to take on Plymouth Argyle tomorrow with clashes against Charlton Athletic, MK Dons and Posh to follow over the next month.

Posh have challenges to face too, particularly on the road. They travel to play Derby County this weekend before trips to Portsmouth and Bolton over the course of the next month.

Posh have passed almost all the examinations of them in the opening phase of the campaign. But MacAnthony believes the upcoming away games, including against Wanderers, will be a true test of their credentials.

Speaking on the Hard Truth Podcast, he said: "The acid test is the away form. The EFL gave us a real test in the first half of the season, with the likes of Plymouth away, you know we've got Derby next away, followed I think by Portsmouth away, followed by Bolton away.

"They're all teams that are going to be up there, so you look at that away run. Touch wood, we're going to be very good at home, but you want to see the away form be (good as well).

"Can we put that performance in in front of 30,000 Derby fans screaming at us next week and then following that, Portsmouth, who have started very well?"
