Three years after a woman was fatally assaulted in her home, a man has faced court charged with her murder.
The 44-year-old woman was found in her Sydney Street home in Morwell, in eastern Victoria, with serious injuries about midday on October 18, 2019.
It's believed she was assaulted in the early hours of that day. She suffered critical injuries and died in hospital on November 7.
Scott Kennedy, 51, was arrested and charged with her murder on Thursday.
During a brief hearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon his lawyer Liam Dogger said his client suffered from an acquired brain injury, post traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder and ADHD.
He is also suffering a physical disability involving his back, Mr Dogger said.
Kennedy, who was previously on bail, has been remanded to appear in court by videolink again for a committal mention on December 16.
