A male massage therapist who is accused of sexually assaulting female clients during appointments at a clinic in Adelaide has been granted bail.
The 35-year-old, whose identity is suppressed, has been charged with three counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecent filming.
It is alleged all occurred while the therapist was performing massages on his clients at a business in Adelaide's western suburbs.
Justice Greg Parker told the District Court some 200 victims are involved in the police investigation.
"There are 38 possible victims still to be contacted," Justice Parker said.
"There are allegedly 647 screen shots of client details contained on the applicant's phone and a massive number of other images on his phone and computer."
The court heard due to the ongoing police enquires and the nature of the matter the trial may not begin for another three years.
"The primary basis for the applicant to be granted bail is the long period he will spend in custody before this matter comes to trial in the District Court," Justice Parker said.
"It is likely that it may be up to three years before the matter comes to trial."
Justice Parker granted home detention bail under strict conditions, satisfied that the risk of reoffending was very low.
The accused has had to surrender his passport and must wear electronic monitoring equipment at all times.
He is not permitted to leave his home unless he has permission from a correction services officer to attend a medical appointment or during a medical emergency.
Justice Parker told the District Court that if the accused is found guilty, the offence of rape carries a maximum life sentence.
"If convicted, the applicant undoubtably faces a substantial custodial sentence," Justice Parker said.
