Access Group creating hundreds of jobs in Europe as it launches string of global operations centres

Access Group, the UK business software company which has seen exponential growth, plans to create hundreds of jobs in Europe this year.

The business, which is headquartered in Loughborough, in central England, is opening new offices in Romania and Ireland as it scales up its already substantial global presence. A spokeswoman for the business said the European expansion was not a result of moving any operations across the Channel because of Brexit.

The group is opening a global operations centre in Timisoara, Romania – the European Capital of Culture 2023 – and will expand its teams there from 375 people to more than 700 by the end of 2023.

New offices in Cork will centralise its Ireland workforce to create a single team working with 500 companies across that country.

Since its 1991 incorporation, The Access Group has gone through a string of investment rounds and buy-outs to become a leading provider of business management software in the UK, Ireland and Asia Pacific.

Last year it announced £1 billion of fresh backing from shareholders Hg and TA Associates, putting its value at £9.2 billion and making it one of the largest UK headquartered software providers.

Parent company The Access Technology Group Limited reported revenues of almost £620 million last year, up from £389 million in 2021, though operating profits halved to £22.5 million on the back of a big rise in R&D spending.

Today Access Group employs 6,300 people working with 75,000 clients around the world.

The business said further expansion was planned this year within the Asia-Pacific region, with a string of global operations centres supporting a move from a “multi-territory business to a scalable global company”.

Access chief operating officer Terry Taylor said each global hub would have its own management, with access to diverse talent pools and regional infrastructure to facilitate sustainable growth.

He said: “At each location, we are creating world-class facilities for our staff and customers. Each new office location has been carefully considered and aligned with local talent pools to make deep connections with local universities and the wider community.

“Each centre will have its own executive management team, managing director, recruitment provision and multi-lingual team. Our ambition is to develop an awe-inspiring proposition for our employees which will support their careers and enhance their skillsets through early years programmes, employee success academy programmes and leadership programmes.”

Chief executive Chris Bayne said: “Over the next four years, the Access GO Centres will support 40 per cent of our global staffing needs.

“Having these strategically located offices keeps momentum growing. It gives our teams a workplace they can genuinely be proud of while positioning the business in an excellent place to execute strategic growth and drive acquisitions across multiple regions, languages and time zones.”
