The Anti-Corruption Bureau police of Chikkamagaluru laid a trap and arrested Shiva Kumar N.C., Assistant Director of Chikkamagaluru Urban Development Authority and Ramesh, a broker. The broker allegedly accepted a bribe of ₹2 lakh on behalf of Shiva Kumar.

The police laid the trap, acting on a complaint by Govindaraj, a resident of Chikkamagaluru. The officer had demanded a bribe from Govindaraj to clear 40% of sites in a layout coming up at Uppalli in Chikkamagaluru.

The ACB Police said that Ramesh, the broker received ₹2 lakh in cash near the CUDA office in the city on behalf of Shivakumar, who is Assistant Director of Town and Country Planning at CUDA.

The police arrested both Ramesh and Shiva Kumar for further investigation.
