AC Milan 'working' to sign Divock Origi from Liverpool as Erling Haaland 'expected' to join Man City

Liverpool moved to within one point of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League after beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

Diogo Jota and substitute Roberto Firmino were both on target in the second half to hand the Reds all three points. Everyone's focus at Anfield is on chasing down City and adding to the Carabao Cup won earlier this season.

But with the summer transfer window getting ever closer, Liverpool are continuing to be linked with a host of potential new players.

Luis Diaz was the club's sole signing in January, with the Reds agreeing a £49m fee with Porto for the Colombia international. Liverpool also pushed to sign Fabio Carvalho from Fulham, but a deal could not be completed before the deadline.

Rumours over possible summer transfer deals are beginning to intensify and, here, we take a look at the latest speculation doing the rounds online and on social media and how likely the transfers are to happen.

Who?

Liverpool forward Divock Origi.

Where?

Journalist Fabrizio Romano.

What?

AC Milan are 'working' to sign Origi. The Belgium international has long been linked with a move away from Anfield as a result of minimal game time, although he's always stayed put.

Now, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season and clubs across Europe are stepping up their interest, if rumours are to be believed. Journalist Romano claims AC Milan view Origi as 'more than a target' and are pushing for a verbal agreement.

Who?

Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland.

Where?

The Times.

What?

According to the report, Haaland is expected to join Manchester City in the summer after being offered a salary package that would make him the Premier League’s highest-paid player.

The report goes on to claim the financial incentives the club's Abu Dhabi owners are able to offer Haaland seem to have been the decisive factor, with talk of wages in excess of £500,000 per week. City officials, the report claims, are understood to have held talks with representatives of the prolific 21-year-old striker in February and were confident of persuading him to choose them over his dream of playing for Real Madrid.

The report also cites Matthias Sammer, the former Germany and Dortmund midfielder who is now a consultant for his former club, claiming on German TV broadcast that City were the frontrunners in the race to sign the Liverpool-linked Haaland. “Those numbers, I suffered whiplash, I passed out,” Sammer said. “My wife had to help me up. I cannot count that far.”

Who?

Georginio Wijnaldum.

What?

TEAMtalk.

Where?

Wijnaldum, according to the report, will prioritise a move back to England in the summer if he does not feel he is part of Paris Saint-Germain’s long-term plans.

The Dutchman ended his five-year stay at Liverpool last summer after the expiration of his contract, which he signed in 2016 after arriving from Newcastle United. During his time on Merseyside, Wijnaldum made 237 appearances for the Reds and won four major trophies along the way.

Talk about a possible contract extension was on the cards for several months but in the end the midfielder decided to call time on his spell at Liverpool and join PSG. But things have not gone to plan.

As a result, the report claims that Arsenal, West Ham United and former club Newcastle are amongst the clubs keeping a watching brief on Wijnaldum’s situation. While AC Milan and Atletico Madrid also maintain, according to the report, an interest.
