AC Milan switch transfer interest from Japhet Tanganga for another Tottenham defender

After their reported pursuit of Japhet Tanganga earlier in the summer, AC Milan have reportedly turned their attentions to a different Tottenham defender with a deal for Davinson Sanchez said to be in the pipeline.

Calciomercato.it claim that the Serie A club have returned to Tottenham following a failed loan move for Tanganga for the former Ajax man who appears to be out of favour in North London. Football.London reported earlier in the summer that Sanchez would be allowed to leave the club should a suitable offer be submitted.

It has been reported in Italy that the Serie A giants had previously held an interest in the Columbian two years ago and have returned as they plan for their title defence. The 26-year-old has been in North London for five years but has never been able to cement a starting place in the team under multiple managers.

He has made 181 appearances in all competitions for Spurs after making his name as a Europe League finalist at Ajax back in 2016/17, the season before he joined the club. Now, it looks as though he may be leaving the club and could take his place in the Rossoneri backline alongside former Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori.

It is believed that a loan deal could be sought with an optional future fee clause rather than a permanent deal. Conte is said to have given his blessing to the deal with the 49-times-capped Colombian international, which is not in the Italian manager's plans going forward in North London.
