AC Milan set Rafael Leao valuation amid Manchester United links

AC Milan value Rafael Leao at €100million amid mounting interest in the Portugal forward.

Leao, 23, has scored eight goals in 20 appearances for Milan this season and struck twice for Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar, where he came on in all five of their matches.

Milan signed Leao from Lille in 2019 but he is out of contract in 2024 and approaching the final 18 months of his deal.

It is understood Manchester United are yet to register any concrete interest in Leao despite being linked with the Portuguese, who is represented by Jorge Mendes.

Mendes has managed Cristiano Ronaldo's career for almost 20 years and despite Ronaldo's acrimonious departure from United, sources say Mendes was unaware he had conducted the unauthorised interview on Talk TV.

Leao was the highest-ranked Serie A player in the Ballon d'Or list at 14th and he has started every game for Milan on the left wing this season.

United manager Erik ten Hag felt the squad had too many right-footed left wingers but that did not deter them from holding talks with PSV Eindhoven left winger Cody Gakpo's agent in the summer.

Ten Hag refused to be drawn on recent speculation surrounding the Netherlands international in an interview with British journalists at United's training camp in Spain last week when he confirmed he wants to sign a goalscorer in the January transfer window.

“Yes, but only when we find the right player," Ten Hag stressed. "We do everything in our power. We are doing research on every opportunity and we do everything we can if that opportunity is there to contract them.”

United admire the prolific Napoli striker Victor Osimhen but have little chance of prising him from the Serie A leaders next month. Ten Hag has been impressed by Portugal striker Goncalo Ramos, whom he encountered when Benfica eliminated Ajax from the Champions League last season.
