AC Milan Agree Loan Deal for Man City Defender Kyle Walker

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker is on the verge of sealing a move to AC Milan after both clubs reached an agreement for his loan transfer.

According to talkSPORT, the deal includes an option for Milan to make the switch permanent for a fee of €5 million, with no obligation to do so.

Walker’s Move to AC Milan Agreed

Walker, who still has 18 months remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, is set to embark on a new challenge in Italy.

The move comes shortly after City strengthened their defence by signing Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens for £33 million.

The Uzbekistan international’s remarkable pace—having clocked a staggering 37km/h sprint in Ligue 1—was a key factor in City’s decision to bring him in.

Meanwhile, City have also bolstered their attack with the acquisition of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Egyptian forward’s transfer is reported to be worth €70 million (£59 million) with an additional €5 million in potential add-ons.

Walker bid an emotional farewell to his City teammates on Monday at the club’s training ground ahead of his imminent departure.

His last appearance for the club came on January 4, when he featured as a substitute in City’s 4-1 victory over West Ham.

Guardiola’s Tribute and Walker’s Legacy at City

The 34-year-old’s decision to leave comes nearly two weeks after City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that the England international expressed his desire to move abroad.

Guardiola acknowledged Walker’s contributions, stating, “He said to the club two days ago that he wants to explore going abroad. He wants to finish his career in another place.”

Guardiola further praised Walker’s professionalism and physical attributes, emphasising how important he has been to City’s success over the past eight years.

Walker was instrumental in the club’s recent triumphs, including their treble-winning campaign last season, and was appointed club captain in September 2023.

Since joining City from Tottenham in 2017 for £45 million, Walker has made over 300 appearances and established himself as one of the most decorated players in the club’s history.

During his tenure, he has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, two Community Shields, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup—amassing an impressive total of 17 major trophies.

At Milan, Walker is expected to compete with fellow former Spurs defender Emerson Royal for the starting right-back position.

The Brazilian, who joined the Rossoneri last summer, has made 26 appearances this season but went off injured early during Milan’s 1-0 victory over Girona in the Champions League on Wednesday.
