MANILA, Philippines – Former La Salle standout Aby Maraño secured the first spot in the Philippine women's volleyball team set to see action in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia this August.

Maraño was named as team captain of the nationals under new coach Shaq delos Santos, the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI) announced on Sunday, June 10.

The rest of the members of the national pool will be announced in the coming days.

As part of its buildup, the Philippine team will also compete in the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference starting June 23, according to reports from the PSL All-Star Spike on Tour in Baguio City.

Delos Santos, who took over following the surprise resignation of multi-titled coach Ramil de Jesus, only has two months to whip the squad in competitive shape for the continental games.(READ: Shaq delos Santos debuts as head coach of women's national volleyball team)
