(Picture: REUTERS)Abu Dhabi is now requiring visitors entering the emirate to show proof of booster vaccination in a bid to stop soaring Covid rates.
The government’s health app said earlier this week that people entering the capital of the United Arab Emirates must show a "green pass," confirming their vaccination status.
The app says that visitors are no longer considered fully vaccinated unless they have received a booster at least six months after their second dose, reports the Associated Press.
Those wishing to enter Abu Dhabi also must also have tested negative for the virus within the last two weeks to maintain their "green" status.
Those who have received their second dose within the past six months still appear to have ‘green’ status on the app, according to reports.
Abu Dhabi has taken a stricter approach than neighbouring Dubai by requiring all residents to also show their green pass before entering public places and government buildings.
While the UAE boasts among the world’s highest vaccination rates per capita, cases have recently increased to heights unseen in months.
