THE Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries has been awarded the Independent Hotel of the Year accolade at this year's Scottish Excellence Awards.
The location is following in the footsteps of Andy and Kim Murray's Cromlix House, an iconic hotel that won the title last year.
The Cairndale Hotel has been owned and operated by the Wallace family for over 40 years and has recently expanded its offering.
Last summer, the owners announced a £2 million investment into the lodging, allowing for the construction of an award-winning adults-only spa.
The Cairndale Hotel named Independent Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Excellence Awards
At the prestigious Scottish Excellence Awards in Glasgow last week, the judges praised the Cairndale for its recent investments, dedicated staff and commitment to sustainability.
Concluding their assessment, the judges said the hotel "was a worthy winner".
There were also a number of other categories, with The Hilton in Glasgow being named Group Hotel of the Year, beating out competition from the likes of the Sonas Collection’s Knipoch Hotel near Oban.
Cairndale also secured the Best Hotel in the South West title, a recognition that was welcomed by the family.
According to the Daily Record, Matthew Wallace Jr said: "These latest awards are further evidence that our huge investment is paying off.
"The spa is already very popular, attracting guests from far and wide."
He added: “It’s wonderful to have achieved national – UK as well as Scotland – recognition, but we remain aware that we also fly the flag for Dumfries and Galloway, where our heart lies.
"We have been the premier hotel in this region for decades and continue to attach great importance to serving the people of the South West.”
