There were huge queues and traffic chaos at Applegreen outlets across the country on Sunday morning as the brand celebrated its birthday with petrol and diesel for sale for under €1.80.
For a total of 2 hours and 47 minutes on Sunday until 11.47am, all Applegreen locations reduced the price of a litre of fuel by 24.7 cent.
Customers began queueing outside Applegreen stations around the country all morning to avail of the discount offer - which is a welcome reprieve from the skyrocketing fuel prices.

However, some people missed out with "absolutely insane queues" reported in some parts of the country. Some early risers heading to Croke Park for the All-Ireland final availed of the welcome savings.
One driver sad: "Applegreen in Birr had petrol and diesel for 1.77/8 this morning...absolutely insane queues."
Someone else said: "Going to be a lot of disappointed people in the queues for Applegreen fuel today. I had to take the back road home when I saw the queue on the Clonmel/Dungarvan Road. Didn't bother queueing, myself, as the tank was almost full."
Donegal Live reported huge congestion around Inishowen as locals ventured out in search of a bargain. The scenes were replicated all over the country with stewards directing traffic at some locations.
The discount on all fuel was to celebrate Applegreen’s birthday.
In a statement, Applegreen said: "It's back and better than ever!!
"In Applegreen locations nationwide starting at 9am for a grand total of 2 hours and 47 minutes you can SAVE 24.7c per litre on all fuel!
"This offer is for a limited time only so make sure you get down to your local Applegreen and fill up the tank".
There are a number of other discounts and promotions in store that fall in line with the 24/7 theme, like slushies for 24c or chicken fillet rolls for €2.47.
Other offers include car washes for €2.47, breakfast rolls for €2.47 or 2 share bags of Hunky Dorys for €2.47. Available while stocks last.
