‘Absolute pleasure’ - Declan Rice sends Craig Dawson West Ham message after £3.3m exit to Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Craig Dawson has sent a classy message to West Ham United following a £3.3million exit.

Dawson, who spent two-and-a-half years at the London Stadium, left West Ham on Sunday morning in a move to join Wolves to be closer to his family in the north west.

The centre-back, who scored nine goals in 87 appearances for the Irons, has sent a classy message to West Ham’s players, staff and supporters following his exit.

“What a two-and-a-half years it’s been. As a club, we have achieved so much more than we could have imagined and I will forever cherish those moments,” Dawson posted on Twitter.

“I have nothing but love and respect for the club, players and staff; some of the best bunch of people I could have wished to work with, but personally it was time for me to go home to my family.

“To the fans, the support has been unbelievable; a noise that always filled the stadium. Thank you for making me so welcome.

“I hope I have done you proud. I will be cheering on the Hammers from the sidelines and wish the club the best of luck for the future.”

His parting message prompted a response out of Hammers captain Declan Rice, who played in 77 of Dawson’s 87 outings for the club.

Rice said in his response on Twitter that it was an “absolute pleasure” to have been teammates and has wished him well for the future.

“Daws It’s been an absolute pleasure,” Rice posted. “Had some unbelievable memories in the past 2 years together!

“Going to miss you mate, wishing you and the family all the best,” followed by a heart emoji.
