'Abrupt end': Glasgow restaurant closes 10 months after opening

A RESTAURANT in Glasgow's West End has closed with owners saying the business has come to "an abrupt end".

Bosses at 33 Irish Kitchen, on Ashton Lane, shared a post on social media saying they are closing the eatery with a "heavy heart".

Opening in March last year, the restaurant served traditional food in a tapas format and larger dishes such as Spice Bags.

However in a post shared on Instagram, it was announced the 33 Irish Kitchen has now closed as "some things don't work out".

It read: "It’s with a heavy heart that we must let you know that our time on Ashton Lane has come to an abrupt end.

"Our team have worked incredibly hard to create a space for something new in Glasgow’s hospitality industry and we truly do believe that our food is unrivalled. "We’d like to extend a huge thank you to our team of staff – you have been our number one priority throughout this and we will continue to support you in your future endeavours. "This is goodbye for now, but there’s no saying what the future holds."

Fans of the restaurant shared their disappointment with the news in the comments.

One person wrote: "This breaks my heart, the food was amazing every time I’ve been."

Another said: "Gutted. You guys were a wonderful addition to Ashton Lane. All the best for whatever is next."

A third added: "Very saddened to hear this.

"The hospitality and food was amazing. Big loss for Ashton lane."
