What if you wake up in a parallel universe where time runs backwards? The controversial hypothesis provides inspiration for 609 Bedtime Story, a new sci-fi thriller boys' love drama that marks a departure from typical high school romances.
Directed by Tanwarin Sukkhapisit, the adaptation of the popular eponymous novel stars couple Thitiwat "Ohm" Ritprasert and Natouch "Fluke" Siripongthon, who previously coupled in Until We Meet Again (2019) and Oh! My Sunshine Night (2022). It revolves around Mum (Thitiwat), a playboy, and his encounter with Dew (Natouch) in the 609 room, a sort of alternative reality where time goes backward. Since they first met and slept together, the mystery has deepened. Who killed Dew? Told from the perspective of Mum, he seeks truth and comes to terms with his own sexuality.
"It is the most challenging film I have ever directed because it deals with a parallel universe. We don't know whether it really exists. How can we make an audience understand it?" said Tanwarin at the series world premiere in late November.
Starting early this month, the show features an unconventional, suspenseful plot. Based on the idea of a parallel universe, the story seems to open up possibilities for the couple to traverse time and change the course of their fate. It is encouraging to see Ohm and Fluke take on more challenging roles. While Ohm plays a flirty, cheeky singer, Fluke's character is serious and introspective.
Produced by All This Entertainment, 609 Bedtime Story is aired on WeTV at 8pm every Friday.
