A man has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of a 29-year-old pregnant woman in the Welsh town of Aberfan.Daniel Mihai Popescu, 28, has been charged following the stabbing on Tuesday morning, South Wales Police said.
He will appear at Merthyr Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
Armed police were called to reports of a "targeted attack" on a woman on Moy Road in Aberfan at around 9.10am on Tuesday.
Police arrested a man, who is believed to be known to the victim, on suspicion of attempted murder, just before 4pm on Tuesday.
The woman has now been discharged from University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where she was taken for treatment for her injuries.
Schools and a community centre were closed in the aftermath of the incident as a precaution.
In a statement, South Wales Police said: "Daniel Mihai Popescu, aged 28, from Merthyr has today, Wednesday 6th December, been charged with attempt (sic) murder following an incident on Moy Road, Aberfan, Merthyr, yesterday morning.
"He will appear at Merthyr Magistrates Court tomorrow morning, Thursday 7th December at 10am.
"The 29-year-old woman who was injured during the incident has been discharged from hospital."
