Aberdeen to rival Rangers over in-demand goalkeeper

Both Rangers and Aberdeen are interested in signing one of Europe's top young goalkeepers.

Stojan Lekovic, 22, plays for FK Radnicki Kragujevac in the Serbian top flight.

He recently extended his contract until December 2025 - but that was under one condition.

It's said that there is a gentlemen's agreement between the player and club that he will be given the go-ahead to leave this summer if any interest team pays a low six-figure fee.

Werder Bremen were interested in signing Lekovic until they renewed the contract of Michael Zetterer, who will be their No.1 for many years to come.

And Fussballeuropa.com reports that Lekovic's availability has alerted Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers and Aberdeen.

It's claimed that both teams are interested in making a move for him this summer.

A series of other Bundesliga and Serbian teams have scouted the towering keeper too.

The report states that Lekovic is expected to have a similar development to that of his compatriot Djordje Petrovic at Chelsea.

Philippe Clement has already landed Jefte this summer. While a deal for Jose Cordoba fell through, it seems that Thomas Galdames could also be inbound before the players and staff return for pre-season next month.

Meanwhile, Sam Lammers will leave Rangers on a permanent deal this summer.

The 27-year-old only joined the Ibrox club last summer under Michael Beale. The Dutchman was a big-money signing from Atalanta, with Rangers parting with £3.5m for the attacker.

However, his time in a Light Blues jersey failed to work out, and he left during the winter break after managing just two goals.

He moved to FC Utrecht in the Netherlands where he enjoyed a much more fruitful spell in front of goal, scoring 11 times during the second half of the season.

He broke an Eredivisie record by managing to score in seven successive matches too.
