Aberdeen sweating goalkeeper injury update ahead of Celtic clash

Aberdeen could be without first-choice goalkeeper Dimitir Mitov for their clash with Celtic at Pittodrie on Wednesday night.

The Bulgarian international was taken off at half time in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Hearts at Tynecastle with a suspected hamstring injury.

He was replaced by Celtic Academy graduate Ross Doohan who could be called up against his former club.

Dons manager Jimmy Thelin gave an update on the  27-year-old's condition after the game. “Let's see [today], we need to make a real check on him first.

“I want them [the medical staff] to say exactly what it was first before I say something.

“But he couldn't keep playing so we needed to change him.

“But the good thing was Ross came in and did really well and he looked really prepared, so we have a good squad.”

Aberdeen took the lead through Leighton Clarkson's strike but were pegged back by a Nicky Devlin own goal in the second half.

Following Celtic’s resounding 5-0 victory over Ross County on Saturday, Brendan Rodgers’ side now hold a four point advantage over the Dons at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a game in hand.
