Aberdeen star reveals what he told Dons fan after furious Fir Park exchange

Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson says he politely swore at a Dons fan after a Scottish Cup exit to Motherwell.

The star from Hamilton was given verbal abuse by angry away supporters at Fir Park during the 2-1 loss earlier this month.

A video emerged online of Ferguson seemingly reacting to one fan who was giving him stick after the game in which Stephen Glass lost his job as Aberdeen manager.

Ferguson admits it was a show of emotion but it shows he cares about winning at Pittodrie, with Dundee United the opponent in Premiership action today.

He said: "It was just emotion from both sides. We were upset as well and they were upset. It was difficult, we lost the game, we were out of the cup and emotions were high.

"They were having a go at us – it was nothing really. A guy jumped the barrier and I politely told him to F off. I forgot about it straight away and I just wanted to get back into training and to get back down there the next week.

“It was a bit of a raw emotion from both sides after the game. It is never the best time to show your emotions but it is hard because you want to win.

“Everybody has their own way about going about things. There are people in the team who care but they will just bite their tongue and not do anything."
