Mass flooding across Aberdeen caused chaos as cars were left submerged in water and homes and businesses were affected.
The city council said that around 40 reports had been to the local authority on Tuesday morning. The floods were caused by a build up of leaves on the lids of drains, and heavy rain.
In one image, one resident can be seen trying to push a MINI car which is submerged in flooding water near the rear entrance to Duthie Park. Other images and videos showed traffic moving through the city despite the rising water levels.
City centre carriageways including Market Street and the area around Aberdeen Harbour were badly flooded, as well as outlying roads including Lang Stracht, and Braehead Way in the Bridge of Don.
Berryden Road, Hutcheon Street and Guild Street also had tailbacks this morning due to flooding. Forecasters have said the weather is expected to clear up with some sunny spells later this afternoon.
Several bus routes have also been diverted or delayed by up to 40 minutes today.
Angry locals took to social media to vent about the disruption the flooding had caused.
One man said: "They can send people to the Moon but can’t sort out drainage?"
Another frustrated resident said: "We need to get the council to clean the drains like they used to do, before they cut all the services trying to save money."
One woman discussing the build up of water on Lang Stracht said: "Not a day for going out. If your journey isn't urgent, then stay at home."
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: "We currently have about 40 Reports of flooding across the city, all the ones we have attended to are a build up of leaves on the top of the gully lids.
"There are currently no roads that are closed, however some are not passable. We are prioritising calls where property is affected or a risk of property being affected.”
Some of the streets affected are:
- St Swithin street at the Union Grove junction
- Ellon Road between the old AECC and B&Q at the Bridge of Don
- Polmuir Road near the back entrance to Duthie Park
- Bottom of Braehead Way in Bridge of Don
- Guild Street
- The entrance to Aberdeen University on King Street
- Balgownie Road between the Aberdeen Innovation Park and Balgownie Drive
- Market Street and Aberdeen Harbour
- Auchmill Road
