Celtic picked up a late win over Aberdeen as they restored their nine point lead over Rangers thanks to Callum McGregor.
Ange Postecoglou put his returning skipper back in the starting team at Pittodrie and he was rewarded late on as he blasted home with three minutes to play to secure a huge three points. The Hoops controlled the game throughout but had to be very patient in their search for the all important goal. Kyogo Furuhashi had a couple of decent chances that he failed to convert while Kelle Roos did superbly to deny Reo Hatate in the first period.
That takes the champions' tally to 15 wins and one defeat in 16 games so far as they return from the World Cup break in the perfect fashion. Here is three things we learned about Celtic's victory over Jim Goodwin's men.
Off the mark
Celtic went into the break with 14 wins and one defeat in their 15 matches to date.
And now they are off the mark in the second half of the period as they reboot up their quest for back to back titles.
The win restores their nine point advantage over Rangers at the top of the Premiership.
It's now games with Livingston, St Johnstone and Hibs before the Old Firm showdown on January 2.
It was a tough afternoon but they found that all important goal to grind out the win.
Stake a claim
Anthony Ralston was in at right-back with Josip Juranovic on Croatia World Cup duty as he put down a marker to be the main man.
The Hoops defender has been linked with a big money move away from the Scottish champions next month with his domestic and performances in Qatar impressing watching clubs.
Alistair Johnston is in the door and will officially be available for selection come January 1 so the next run of fixtures could prove big for Scotland international Ralston has he aims to be the No1 choice in the position.
He defended well and as always got up and down the pitch.
Captain fantastic
Callum McGregor was back for the Hoops today and the influential leader showed his importance to the side.
Not only did he pop up with a winner just three minutes before full-time but he controlled the game in the midfield.
Always looking to get on the ball and dictate play. A solid return for the captain.
Sure to play a huge part in any success heading for Glasgow's east end this season.
