Abdoulaye Doucoure injury boost as Everton midfielder continues 'positive progress'

Everton have released the latest on Abdoulaye Doucoure's injury recovery, claiming that the midfielder is making 'positive progress'.

The Frenchman has missed each of the Blues' matches under Frank Lampard so far after sustaining a groin injury in the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa at Goodison Park last month.

However, it seems that the 29-year-old is continuing to edge closer to a return.

Everton have released a short video clip onto Twitter showing Doucoure taking part in the warm-up as the rest of the squad prepare for the trip to face Southampton on Saturday.

The message from the club read: "Abdoulaye Doucoure joined in the warm-up part of today's training session as he continues to make positive progress from his groin injury."

The clip shows the midfielder taking part in a short drill at Finch Farm, sprinting to receive the ball before quickly turning and passing it into a small net during an individual session.

Doucoure has made 16 Premier League appearances over the course of 2021/22 so far, bagging two goals and four assists in that time.
