The ABC’s flagship radio show Radio National is back on air after the airwaves went suddenly silent on Monday morning.
Around 8am this morning, digital and analogue listeners reported that the scheduled programming had suddenly stopped and the broadcast went silent.
Shortly after, the ABC provided a statement in which the broadcaster apologised for the inconvenience and stated it was “working to understand and resolve the issue as soon as possible”.

“ABC is aware of a significant outage affecting multiple national ABC radio stations, including ABC Radio National, ABC Classic, ABC News Radio, and triple j,” the statement read.
“We are working to resolve the issues. There is currently no timeline for a fix. You do not need to contact us regarding this outage, we appreciate your patience.
“Local radio stations are unaffected and in the meantime, you can tune in with your local ABC Radio station.”
The ABC has not specified what caused the outage. However, it is understood that no emergency broadcast services were impacted by the outage.
Two hours after the broadcast cut out, scheduled programming across digital, analogue and streaming platforms resumed.
