When Abbie Chatfield first created the Kink Kit in collaboration with sex toy brand Normal, it was partly for selfish reasons. She wanted a sleek, sexy, elevated collection of spicy toys, tips and tricks to add to her own sex life with boyfriend Adam Hyde.
“It was kind of a selfish motivation,” Abbie tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“I wanted a nice, high-quality handcuff in a little easy kit that is easily accessible in a night box and bag and safer for your wrists and things like that.”
For Abbie — who created the kit alongside sexologist Georgia Grace and Normal co-founder Lucy Wark — it’s been a long process bringing the Kink Kit to life. What started as a few sketches, turned into mock-ups and testers and eventually, a year and a half later, the product was ready to go.
When asked about giving the kit a crack for the first time, a wistful look came over her face.
“Oh, so fun,” Abbie said, a glint in her eye.
“Good memories. It’s the best. Because Adam and I go away so much for work, it’s just constantly in my suitcase at all times ready to go.”
If you need inspiration on how to give it a crack, Abbie isn’t shy about sharing some of their bedroom secrets.
“I don’t know if this is a TMI but recently Adam has been getting coconut oil and putting it on top of my pelvic bone and then it takes like two minutes to melt with my body heat,” she says.
“It’s a long time, so you’re waiting there until it melts, ideally using the handcuffs. I’m very much into like, the self-restraint element.”
Okay, hot.
The Kink Kit includes a blindfold, handcuffs, a flogger and a sex menu to help you discover what kinky activities you and your partner are into. While the 29-year-old says her favourite toys change from time to time, right now, she’s super into the blindfold.
“I’ve been asked this a lot, and I think I keep going between the flogger and the blindfold. When I think of the blindfold, I want to be having the flogger doing things to me so I think I’m going to say blindfold today but that might change,” she says with a grin.
As for Adam? Well, he’s just eager to please. King behaviour, if you ask me.
“Whatever I want to do, that would be his favourite,” she reveals.
“He’s such a service top. So, the blindfold.”
