ABBA respond to Eurovision 2024 speculation

ABBA have spoken out following speculation about them performing at next year’s Eurovision Song Content.

Next year will mark 50 years since the Swedish supergroup won the international singing competition with song Waterloo and following Loreen’s historic win in Liverpool earlier this month, it’s set to return to home turf.

While fans have been waiting with baited breath to hear whether ABBA members Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad intend to reform for the occasion, they may be disappointed.

Asked by BBC Newsnight if the Dancing Queens would be set to make a triumphant return, the response was pretty conclusive, with Andersson said simply saying: “I don’t want to.

“And if I don’t want to, the others won’t. It’s the same for all four of us – [if] someone says, ‘no’, it’s a no.”

Ulvaeus added: “We can celebrate 50 years of Abba without us being on stage.”

In the meantime, they have another milestone to celebrate – the first anniversary of ABBA Voyage.

Their groundbreaking “ABBAtar” live show which is housed in a specially built theatre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London has been winning rave reviews ever since it first debuted last May.
