ABBA net worth: How much band members are worth ahead of Voyage reunion

Swedish pop group ABBA have delighted fans with the news that they will be releasing music for the first time in 39 years, as well as going on tour as their younger selves in hologram form.

The group launched a brand new Twitter account called ABBA Voyage, with the bio simply reading "Join us".

The iconic group, which was formed in 1972 by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, are one of the most popular bands in history.

They won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with their stash hit Waterloo, and went on to sell over 385 million albums and singles worldwide.

However, the group, which consisted of two married couples, eventually grew apart. Björn and Agnetha divorced in 1980, and Benny and Anni-Frid followed a year later.

The group split up in 1982, but they continued to draw in royalties from their amazing music, and many went on to have glittering solo careers.

Here we take a look at the band members' net worth ahead of their reunion tour.

ABBA net worth

As of August 2021, ABBA is worth upwards $900million, according to wealth website wealthypersons.com.

The band made most of its fortune through tours and performances over the decades.

But their income also increased considerably from films and TV shows.

For example, ABBA's music was adapted into a musical called Mamma Mia! in 1991, which is still one of the most popular musicals in London's West End and Broadway in New York.

They reportedly made £3.1million in royalties for their music.

ABBA also made music from Mamma Mia! The movie, which was the highest-grossing film in the UK in 2008.

The band members still make money in royalties from their music to this day.

Individually, the band members are thought to be worth between £146-218million.

Agnetha continued to have a successful solo career after ABBA split, with three hit albums.

Anni-Frid, or Frida, as she is known, also had huge international success post-ABBA.

Her first album Something's Going On went on to sell more than 1.5million copies.

She went on to marry Prince Heinrich Ruzzo Reuss von Plauen in 1992, but he died of lymphoma in 1999 aged just 49.

Anni-Frid reportedly inherited his fortune, which is thought to have been £75million.

Benny and Björn continued to work together after ABBA.

Some of their solo projects included Chess the musical, as well as Mamma Mia! The musical which premiered on the West End in 1999.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Anni-Frid and Björn are the highest earners of the group, both with net worths of £218million.

The same website estimates Benny's net worth at £167million, and Agnetha at £146million.

Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Bjōrn and Benny's net worth will no doubt increase massively after their comeback tour.

However, they did say that if they were to reunite, it would be for the music – not money.

They famously turned down $1billion in 2000, which they were offered to reunite for 100 shows.

Frida told Ireland's national broadcaster RTE: "No amount of money would change our minds. Maybe we sometimes say it would be good to do a song together again, just a recording and nothing else, but I don’t know if that will happen - so don’t say that we will!"
