The family behind Crete's most luxurious hotel source interiors from inspirational travels. Here's a guide to this chic Greek retreat through the eyes of a design lover...

Where? On Crete’s northern coastline with dazzling sea views at every turn.

Design details: The ultra stylish resort has 152 uniquely designed guestrooms, suites and villas. The common template throughout is white to create a light and positive ambience. Paired with shades of blue there is a contemporary Mediterranean style that is the epitome of tranquillity.

The furniture is hand selected by the hotel’s family owners. They find pieces they love on their travels and bring them back home. From headboards crafted in Indonesia to pillows handmade in Kreta or a stool found in a Roman antiques store and a lounge chair from Paris, there is a sense of bohemian romanticism amongst the calming tones. A lot of love has gone into this chic boutique retreat.

So whether you fancy seafood fresh from the Aegean Sea or a traditional Greek lunch there are lots of options. The Buddha-Bar is a very fun spot but the food is taken seriously. The Asian cuisine is a feast for the senses.

Is there a spa? Yes, the resort’s Elemis Spa features a Turkish hammam, sauna, gym and a nail bar. The spa menu has a long treatment list of various scrubs, rubs, rituals and massages. For those wanting to make the most of the gym, there is even a personal trainer.

Anything else I should know? A concierge is available to guests and if you really want to treat yourself there is even a butler service.

Best for: a relaxing getaway where you do not need to leave the hotel.
