An 'abandoned' warehouse in a Nottinghamshire town has been flattened to make way for a new car park. The vacant Tiles UK warehouse in Derby Road, Stapleford, was recently demolished so a new public car park can replace it.
The Tiles UK warehouse was closed in December 2020, and the building had been "abandoned" until it was knocked down this month, according to Broxtowe Borough Council. The new car park would be owned by the council, as is part of the Stapleford Town Deal, for which Broxtowe Borough Council has been awarded government funding for six regenerative projects.
The proposed car park is a "key element of the Town Deal" according to the council, as it will replace the car parking at Victoria Road. This will be lost when the new Enterprise Hub, which includes an indoor market space, independent bistro-style food outlets, a vibrant indoor market to the ground floor, as well as flexible office space, is constructed in its place.

The car park would have 46 car parking spaces and include six disabled bays, electric vehicle charging points and a cycle rack. The car park would operate on a two-way system for entrance and exit.
Greenery and trees would be included towards the boundary. Pay and display points, lighting, and CCTV would also be installed.
The car park will be available to use all day, according to planning documents. In a planning document, a representative for Broxtowe Borough Council said: "The car park will have 46 car parking spaces which will include six disabled bays, electric vehicle charging points and a cycle rack. The car park will operate on a two-way system for entrance and exit.
"Greenery and trees will be included towards the boundary. Pay and display points, lighting, and CCTV will also be installed." The application is pending consideration by Broxtowe Borough Council.
