A group of intrepid urban adventurers have revealed what they found on an abandoned Victorian pier.
Birnbeck Pier in Somerset, which was once a popular seaside landmark spot home to many amusements, shops and cafes, is now visibly derelict and can only be reached at certain times of day at low tide.
Built in 1867, it is particularly unusual for a pier of its time, as it previously connected the mainland to a nearby island.
Now, YouTubers from the channel Lost Adventures have ventured out to the pier via a 'magic' hidden path after a previous attempt the week before saw them get their timings wrong.
Recalling how gained access to the pier during the limited two-hour windows, they said: "One week before we explored the pier, we actually turned up but got the tide times wrong.
“We weren't able to cross the ocean onto the natural causeway which reveals itself at a low tide for a couple of hours, so we came back the following week and had planned our trip to perfection.
“It felt like a true adventure to explore the pier, as we got down to the sea within 10 minutes.
"It was like some kind of magic as a path seemed to rise out of the ocean for us to cross.
While there they found a host of artifacts from past eras, including old ticket booths still left intact.
Some animal visitors also appeared along their journey, as they recalled: "There was a fox living on the pier and we saw it a few times - you even get a glimpse of it running around in the video.
The group said they would now like to venture back with a few metal detectors to "see what we could find", including some potential "lost relics from the Victorian period" or anything from World War Two, when the army facilitated the pier.
Earlier this year, local media reported that North Somerset Council was working to draw up plans for a cottage and wooden hut on the site as part of multi-million plans to restore Birnbeck Pier.
The group behind Lost Adventures said they started exploring abandoned places in the UK after seeing an American YouTuber named Adam the Woo embark on similar adventures across the pond.
