Abandoned Edinburgh salon in plush neighbourhood set to be turned into bakery

A new bakery and shop is set to open in one of Edinburgh's busiest neighbourhoods, replacing a former hairdressing salon.

Plans have been put forward to replace Gorgeous Therapies, which recently closed down, with Lannan - a new independent bakery - with both internal and external work being carried out on the property.

If granted by the City of Edinburgh Council, Lannan will be based on Hamilton Place, Stockbridge. The application summary reads: "Redecoration of shopfront including repainting changing colour and installation of new signage, awnings and security shutters. Internal alterations to convert hairdresser salon to bakery and shop."

Proposed shop elevations show how the internal outlook of the property will be altered to allow for a change of class. A spacious office will remain, while the building will be split into two different sections, a shop and a bakery with ovens and food preparation areas to the rear.

A "warm mid-white" theme will also replace the existing blue and green shades used to decorate the exterior of the shop, with a street-facing canopy with a brand logo also included in the plans.

A newly set-up Instagram account for Lannan bakery discloses the location of the store within Stockbridge, with various images of the current exterior teasing customers before the launch during "early 2023."

The latest post reads: "Sunny mornings at Lannan. South facing corner, beautiful big windows and doors - I’m sure loads of you have guessed our location already! I can’t wait to show you our plans for the space."
