A dog has been found tied to a tree in Bridgend. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, named by Hope Rescue as Eugene, was discovered on Friday morning tied to the tree with a towel beside him.
A concerned member of the public took Eugene to Maes Glas Vets in Brackla, where the dog warden then took him to Hope Rescue.
Lyndsey Smith, the adoption and fostering manager at Hope Rescue, said Eugene had been found “very underweight and covered in yellow urine stains”.

Lyndsey said: “Eugene is the sweetest, friendliest boy you could wish to meet so we were heartbroken to see him in such a sorry state. Not only is he very underweight but also covered in yellow urine stains.
“There is certainly nothing wrong with his appetite but we have to be careful to feed him smaller meals more frequently so as not to cause any further damage. Once Eugene has finished his seven-day statutory stray period he will hopefully move into one of our caring foster homes until he is well enough to find his forever home.”
Hope Rescue is looking to collect any information as to how Eugene ended up tied to the tree in such an awful condition. Anyone who feels they could help should call Hope Rescue on 01443 226659.
Lyndsey also issued advice for pet owners struggling to give their pets a good quality of life due to costs. She added: “We would urge any pet owners if they are struggling with ongoing costs of upkeep of their pets to reach out to their local rescue or pet food bank.”
