Aaron Rodgers never looked like he wanted to be in Ford Field on Sunday. The future Hall of Fame quarterback of the Green Bay Packers had a rough afternoon in the home of the Detroit Lions in Week 9.
Rodgers was intercepted in the red zone on Green Bay’s first two drives and shut out in the first half by the Lions, who brought in the league’s worst scoring defense at over 32 points per game surrendered. Those were two of nine passes the Lions got their hands on, including one more interception by rookie safety Kerby Joseph. The Lions prevailed 15-9 when Rodgers last pass fell harmlessly to the end zone turf near no Packers receiver in particular.
No. 12 was not happy during or after the game, and his disdain with himself, his teammates and the malaise of losing was very apparent. Rodgers expounded upon the loss in his postgame press conference, not shying away from taking a shot at the team that just picked him off three times and beat him for the second time in a row inside Ford Field.
“I think there’s a lot to it,” Rodgers told reporters. “But it really just comes down to execution. The play comes in, we’ve got to execute it. There’s a lot of things that go into that. We had a couple of chances for sure. We can’t lose a game like that against that team, no. So that’s going to hurt for a while.”
That team, the Lions, is now just a half-game behind Rodgers and the Packers in the NFC North. Detroit improved to 2-6 while Green Bay plummeted to 3-6 with its fifth straight loss.
Rodgers did tip his cap to Joseph later on, but dissing the team that just defeated you is never a good look.
