Aaron Rodgers told Las Vegas Raiders trade is best option despite New York Jets links

Green Bay Packers superstar Aaron Rodgers has been told that the Las Vegas Raiders are the team that he should join next season, as he prepares to take himself into a darkness retreat for four days.

Rodgers will go into voluntary solitary confinement at the end of this week to 'give himself clarity' on what he plans for his future, both in the short and long term ahead of the 2023 NFL season. This comes after a few years of Rodgers' change in behaviour, admitting that he used Ayahuasca - a plant-based psychedelic that is said to alter a person's emotions and causing hallucinations.

It has been suggested that the Packers and Rodgers are both looking to move on, with Rodgers taking this time to make his decision on what he'll look to do - whether that may to be remain in football or not.

The Packers drafted Jordan Love in the first round of 2020 and have benched him for three years, with Rodgers winning the MVP twice in that time.

The Packers may be looking in a new direction now with Love though, and could be thinking that this would be the last year that they'd be able to trade Rodgers and get back some solid assets - as he heads into the latter years of his outstanding career.

The team are reportedly wanting two first-round picks for the four-time MVP, and could receive that, with the New York Jets and Raiders both interested. FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd has said that he believes Rodgers should come out of his darkness retreat with the mindset that he should seek a trade to Las Vegas.

Cowherd said: "Aaron is going into a black hole for four days... why not make it full-time? Go to the Raiders. They have the best draft pick of all the teams in the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes.

"The Raiders could give the Packers their first round pick, and a third and a five for Rodgers. The Packers do not have a lot needs, and they can give Jordan Love a surplus of talent in year one (as a starter)."

Rodgers had a disappointing season with the Packers in 2022, with the team missing the playoffs after trading away his number one target for nine years, Davante Adams.

Adams, who joined the Raiders, has been open in his desire to see Rodgers join the team, who are looking for a new franchise quarterback after cutting Derek Carr.
