As he recovers from a torn Achilles, Aaron Rodgers isn’t of much use to the New York Jets when he can’t play football. But as New York slowly saves its season thanks to benchmark 20-14 wins over the Philadelphia Eagles, it looks like Rodgers is finding a way to contribute where he can.
According to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt, Rodgers wore a headset that was dialed in with the Jets’ offensive coaching staff Sunday. (Gee, I wonder who the source is.) He apparently offered suggestions about play calls that could work against Philadelphia’s defense. Rodgers’ advice was so valuable that the Jets had 244 yards of offense, went an atrocious 2-of-11 on third down and 1-of-4 in the red zone, and needed a late Jalen Hurts interception that gave the New York offense a first and goal just to score one whole touchdown.
(In the most sarcastic voice possible: Wow, look at all the help he gave Gang Green!
Aaron Rodgers was on the headset and, per source, was an active voice today giving suggestions to #Jets coaches.

In all seriousness, there probably isn’t much Rodgers could do to elevate Zach Wilson. Even while the third-year quarterback has played better in Rodgers’ absence, he remains one of the NFL’s least effective signal callers. I’m just understandably hesitant to credit Rodgers for input that didn’t really change anything about the Jets’ mediocre offense. Even though, again, it seems that he’s the one who seemingly wants credit for it.
No one would have even noticed if we weren’t aware that Rodgers was handing out suggestions on the headset.

So really Aaron Rodgers is the reason they won the game. No narcissism at play here, no way. https://t.co/Ai1twXBAfK

Was he calling plays in the red zone as if he was in the game? Kidding. I think his presence on the sideline has helped the team believe and even helped Wilson settle down.

He's got so much experience running and managing an offense, I'm sure he's an incredibly capable coach.

I was pretty critical of Rodgers attitude in the later half of his Packers tenure, but his attitude and the way he coached teammates in camp on Hard Knocks and now being active despite his injury gets a big hat tip from me. https://t.co/9VYwb7OMr2
