New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers gave an honest breakdown of New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye, following New England’s 25-22 win over the Jets.
Maye was productive prior to leaving the game with a head injury. All told, the North Carolina star went 3-of-6 passing on the day for 23 yards, along with 46 rushing yards and one touchdown.
This is the second time that Rodgers has encountered Maye with the two having met in September. Maye came in late for reps when the game was out of reach for the Patriots.
“I think he was doing a nice job on his feet,” Rodgers said, via Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan. “He’s obviously super athletic. He made a nice run for a touchdown. I don’t know what happened to him. But he’s been playing good the last couple weeks.
“It’s tough on a rookie quarterback coming in, but it seems like he’s getting more comfortable.”
It is certainly noteworthy that Rodgers thinks highly of Maye’s talent.
The Jets quarterback is a future Hall of Famer and part of the last line of quarterbacks from the previous era. If anything, this could be viewed as a tip of the cap to the future of the game.
