Aaron Rodgers says Zach Wilson is a joy to work with, jokes he ‘hasn’t made my life hell’

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not only taken on the role of leading the offense on the field, but has become a pseudo-coach off the field as well, helping teach other members of the team. One player Rodgers has said he has enjoyed working with thus far is the quarterback he is taking over for this season, Zach Wilson.

Rodgers called Wilson “a joy to work with” and praised Wilson’s approach to the game. He also joked that Wilson “hasn’t made my life hell every day.” For those playing catch-up, earlier in the offseason when the Jets were in the market for a veteran quarterback, Wilson said he would make that quarterback’s life hell.

Instead, Wilson has been working on his fundamentals and working to improve himself and Rodgers has taken notice of it. Rodgers said Wilson has “stripped down his fundamentals, learned a new offense and played ‘incredibly’ well.”

The Jets have said numerous times one of their goals is to continue to develop Wilson and hope to get something out of him even after Rodgers is gone. The hope is that by sitting and learning from Rodgers, Wilson can salvage his career and give the Jets some stability at the quarterback position in the future, a future that in all likelihood does not include a first-round pick in 2024.
