Well, that got a bit awkward at MetLife Stadium.
The New York Jets (2-2) and their performance against the Denver Broncos (2-2) in a 10-9 loss in Week 4 was bad enough.
Adding to that was the disagreement between quarterback and head coach.
Aaron Rodgers responded to an assessment that Robert Saleh had on the team’s offense during his post-game press conference.
The coach suggested that, perhaps, the way the offense operates has to be changed.
“We’ve got to figure it out, whether or not we’re good enough or ready to handle all the cadence,” Saleh said via video conference. “Felt like our operation had been operating pretty good. Obviously, today it took a major step back.”
That’s where Rodgers disagreed. The QB said the standard just needs to be higher.
“That’s one way to do it,” Rodgers said. “The other way is to hold them accountable. We haven’t had an issue.”
Rodgers’ frustrations are a bit understandable. His stats from the game tell the story. Not his 24-for-42 passing numbers, rather, the 14 QB hits and five sacks Rodgers took–not to mention the multiple penalties New York’s offensive line were flagged for.
