Aaron Rodgers handed huge test on Monday Night Football in first New York Jets game

Aaron Rodgers will face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in his first game as the new quarterback for the New York Jets.

Rodgers was traded to the Jets from the Green Bay Packers just days before the start of the 2023 NFL Draft. In doing so, he ended his 17-year association with the Packers, after being drafted back in 2005.

The 39-year-old is not the only former Packer to make the switch to the MetLife Stadium. Wide receiver duo Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard have also joined Rodgers in signing for the Jets during the off-season as well as offensive lineman Billy Turner.

This week has seen several leaks over the regular season schedule, which is due to be fully released on Thursday evening. In the days leading up to that, though, there have already been some games which have already been announced.

For Rodgers and the Jets, they have been lined up to face AFC East rivals the Buffalo Bills in Week One of the regular season, as announced on Thursday’s Good Morning America. The game will be the first Monday Night Football of the season and will take place on September 11.

The Bills fell one game short of reaching the AFC Championship game, as they were beaten by Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round. This was after the Bills finished the regular season top of the AFC East and with a 13-3 record.

For the Jets, Rodgers knows that he will have a lot of work to do in order to improve on their finish from last season. The Jets had a record of 7-10 and finished bottom of the AFC East. He also knows another huge divisional game will be a big occasion, with a clash with Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins announced as the first ever Black Friday game.

One of the other Week One matches will see reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs take on NFC North’s Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium. This will be the first Thursday Night Football game of the season on September 7.

Wednesday saw the NFL International Series matches confirmed, with the Chiefs taking on the Miami Dolphins in Germany. They are joined by the Indianapolis Colts facing the New England Patriots in Frankfurt in November.

The London games will see Jacksonville Jaguars be the first team to have two matches in England in the same season. They will play the Atlanta Falcons and the Bills, while the other game sees the Baltimore Ravens face the Tennessee Titans.
