Aaron Rodgers admitted that he did not perform well enough in Thursday night's loss to the Tennessee Titans, a game that his Green Bay Packers would have felt that they had to win in front of their home fans to make a push for the play-offs.
It's been a dismal season for the Packers, now with a 4-7 record and being four wins behind their division rival Minnesota Vikings, who have two games in-hand on them to take a commanding lead, and could even clinch the division within the next two weeks.
After a win against the red-hot Dallas Cowboys last week, Packers fans would have been hopeful going into the game at Lambeau Field, but they struggled on both ends of the ball, struggling horrifically in pass coverage with Ryan Tannehill throwing for 333 yards and two touchdowns, with rookie Treylon Burks record 111 yards in the game, as well as Rodgers failing to connect with receivers on crucial plays - which has been the story of their season so far.
As Rodgers' and the offence struggled throughout the game, Packers fans could be heard boo'ing as the left the field to punt the ball away after multiple failed drives - something Rodgers has seldom heard in his time as quarterback in his 14 years as starter.
When asked what he made about the boos during the 27-17 loss, he said: "Interesting. That's the best I can give you."
Rodgers finished threw for 227 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions as he completed 24 of his 37 attempts, missing a few throws that he'd usually complete on an off-night.
It's the sixth loss in seven games for the Packers as they now fall three games behind .500, and cannot afford to drop many more games.
The poor season comes after the surprising decision to trade away superstar receiver Davante Adams, who was sent to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first and second round draft pick, with the Packers choosing not to extend Rodgers' favourite target.
In his place, the Packers selected receiver Christian Watson from North Dakota State in the second round, who had started the season slowly but has now scored five touchdowns in two games - adding another two in last night's loss.
The Packers will need Watson to continue to make the step up if they have any chance in succeeding this season, with some difficult games remaining on their schedule.
