On Thursday, ESPN New York shared a video of Aaron Rodgers dropping a mysterious box on the sideline prior to the Jets-Chargers game at MetLife Stadium.
Upon the box hitting the turf, it broke open, causing what appeared to be a large glass beaker filled with an unknown liquid inside to break and spill out.
On Friday, Rodgers’ former Packers teammate David Bakhtiari tagged Rodgers demanding answers after seeing the video on social media.
“I need answers @AaronRodgers12?! It looks like a big triangular beaker I’d use in science class,” asked Bakhtiari.

Upon the video going viral, conspiracy theories commenced—especially after Rodgers is seen quickly hiding the beaker-like vessel back in the box.
The rampant speculation, which ranged from a magic healing potion to a bong, forced the 10-time Pro Bowl signal-caller to appear on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, putting all the rumors about the liquid to rest.
“It was not a bong, first of all,” Rodgers said. “It was a bottle of tequila [given as a gift] and I lost half of it.”
What did we drop here Aaron..

Rodgers added the bottle of tequila was in fact a gift from ESPN Deportes sideline reporter John Sutcliffe.
Sutcliffe also posted a video clip of the gift exchange to his account on X on Monday evening, supporting Rodgers' explanation:
