Aaron Ramsey's Rangers afterlife off to flying start as he jokes he's feeling the heat following dream Nice debut strike

Resurgent Aaron Ramsey is a Nice hero already after scoring with just his second touch of the ball for his new team to earn a draw against Toulouse. And while the Welshman admits he's feeling the heat in France, he says he's over the moon to have made an immediate impact.

Ramsey was released from his Juventus contract earlier in the summer after an ill-fated loan spell at Rangers last season. His final touch of the ball was his missed penalty in the Europa League final with Gio van Bronckhorst leaving him on the bench for the Scottish Cup final win over Hearts.

Despite links with his boyhood team Cardiff, Ramsey landed on his feet with Nice as he penned a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 side. He was named on the bench for Sunday's curtain-raiser with Toulouse, and was given the chance to make his mark as Nice chased an equaliser with 15 minutes to go.

Ramsey, coming on for winger Calvin Stengs, immediately injected some energy into the side and made himself the hero less than three minutes into his first appearance. With just his second touch of the ball, he latched onto fellow sub Bilal Brahimi's cut-back and sent the ball into the top corner from 15 yards.

A delighted Ramsey said: "I wanted to come in and make an impact in the game. I'm very happy, very happy for the team. We finished better, we had a lot of chances to finish the game better but it's already good. I know it's very hot (laughs). I'm happy to be playing in this league. It's technical, it's very athletic and it goes fast. I'm very happy to be here and hopefully I'll bring something to this team."
