Aaron Ramsey's first Rangers start chances assessed as full debut waiting game stretches on

There is little doubt over the pedigree of Aaron Ramsey.

It's the marquee signing for Rangers and boss Gio van Bronckhorst must be desperate to give his new recruit his first start.

With the club fighting in the Premiership, Scottish Cup and Europa League a player like Ramsey could make all the difference.

However, so far he has resisted the temptation to throw the Welshman into the starting line-up.

He came off the bench against Hearts, and looks set to take up the same role against Hibs on Wednesday night.

So when is he most likely to make his debut? Record Sport takes a look.

Hibs (H)

Well, it doesn't look likely.

Gio van Bronckhorst could be simply playing mind games with Shaun Maloney by stating that Ramsey won't start the game with Hibs.

But, if that is the case the Dutchman must be a master poker player.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Hibs, the Dutchman said: "I don’t think he is quite ready.

"You could see the difference when he came on but he is still building up and he is improving in training each day."

So, we roll on to the Scottish Cup on Saturday...

If Ramsey gets another 15 minutes cameo in Premiership action against Hibs, the League Two side are next on the agenda.

It looks like a perfect opportunity to throw in the blockbuster signing with Rangers expected to cruise to victory against the minnows.

However, if Van Bronckhorst wants to wrap the Juventus loanee in cotton wool, it could be a gamble to start him at Galabank.

The dreaded plastic pitch is often cited as an injury risk, and it might not be the perfect moment to give the Welshman his first run out from the start.

If the Dutchman does keep Ramsey out of the starting XI, it could be bad news for his chances of starting in a blockbuster game in Germany.

If there is one player who is used to the big occasions in the Rangers squad, it's Aaron Ramsey.

He comes with experience of the Champions League and a bursting trophy cabinet.

So the 81,000-seater Westfalenstadion - intimidating even if it is only limited to 10,000 spectators - won't faze the former Juventus and Arsenal playmaker.

But is he fit enough to start against the Bundesliga title hopefuls? He will be desperate to test his mettle against the likes of Erling Haaland.

But it's a gamble if Ramsey isn't up to speed.

The visit to Tannadice is just 12 days away during a packed fixture card for Rangers.

However, if Ramsey has still not made his start by this stage the fans will start to raise eyebrows over the timeline of the midfielder's first start.

No doubt the player himself will be knocking on the manager's door as he looks to prove himself during his loan spell.

The fixtures are coming thick and fast, and Gio van Bronckhorst will need to rotate his midfielders. It would be expected he would be in the running for a start against Thomas Courts side.

When is Aaron Ramsey most likely to start for Rangers?

Looking at the upcoming fixtures, the Scottish Cup clash with Annan seems the most likely chance for Aaron Ramsey to prove his is match fit.

While the plastic pitch may come into Van Bronckhorst's decision-making, he will want to have a top class player up to match fitness as soon as possible.

With the Premiership title run heating up, and the Europa League double header against Borussia Dortmund around the corner, having Ramsey in the team could prove to be pivotal.

Giving Ramsey a start against Annan allows him to get up to speed for the packed calendar.
