Aaron Ramsey is understood to have spent £30,000 of his own money in order to get fit again.
The Wales midfielder joined Scottish giants Rangers on loan in January after another disappointing season at Juventus.
The 31-year-old has only started one game for the Gers since his arrival, making a handful of appearances off the bench.
However, Ramsey picked up a knock in the Europa League first-leg clash with Borussia Dortmund, prompting Rangers' physios to treat him with caution.
The ex-Arsenal man is so desperate to get back on the pitch though, the Sun claim he has flown his own specialists to Scotland to get him back to tip-top condition.
Wales are set to face Austria in a World Cup qualifier on 24 March, with the winner taking on either Scotland or Ukraine for a place at Qatar 2022.
Football Association of Wales (FAW) chief executive Noel Mooney has admitted that the game may be postponed due to Ukraine requesting to push back their game against Scotland due to the Russian invasion.
There is still the title run-in and Europa League glory for Ramsey to focus on for now though.

Ramsey missed his fourth Rangers game in a row through injury on Wednesday night as the defending champions beat St Johnstone.
"But it's football - you will almost never get an ideal scenario as a coach," Giovanni Van Bronckhorst said on the player's situation.
He added: "I don't have a clear timeline. Hopefully he can join the team very soon.
"He is already working on the pitch again, so hopefully in the near future we can welcome him back in the squad."
Ramsey's signing in January was seen as a major coup with Ally McCoist likening the signing to that of Paul Gascoigne.
He said at the time: “I am really excited. It is just what Rangers fans needed, what the team needed – a boost in the middle of the park.
“I’m trying to think back to when Rangers made a signing like this and I’m going back to Gascoigne and people like that – this is how big I think this signing could be.
“I know he has not been playing, a little bit out of favour at Juventus, but what a footballer Aaron Ramsey is. It is a brilliant signing for Rangers and Scottish football."
