Aaron Ramsey apologises to Rangers fans as he receives warm Hampden ovation

Aaron Ramsey received a rousing ovation from Rangers fans as he warmed up during the first half at Hampden.

And the midfielder appeared to gesture an apology to the Ibrox faithful after missing the crucial penalty in Wednesday's Europa League Final.

Ramsey 's spell in Scotland hasn't gone to plan with injury severely limiting his involvement.

He was brought off the bench late in extra time against Eintracht Frankfurt with penalties in Gio van Bronckhorst 's mind.

But he was the only player to miss as Rangers fell to a heartbreaking defeat in Seville.

They have the chance to bounce back with a Scottish Cup win at Hampden and Ramsey was named on the bench against Hearts.

And as he went out to warm up just after the half hour mark, he made a beeline for the Rangers fans where he appeared to apologise for his penalty miss.

And he was greeted with a huge round of applause from the blue half of Hampden.

Ramsey is likely to return to Juventus in the summer with Rangers seemingly not keen on renewing his loan spell.

Reports in Italy recently suggested the Italian club will open talks to release him from his contract.
