Aaron Ramsdale reveals which Arsenal training method won't return as Liverpool plan backfires

It's not just the start of the new Premier League season that Arsenal supporters have to be excited about this week.

On August 4, prior to the Gunners' trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace, three episodes of Amazon Prime's All or Nothing: Arsenal TV mini-series will start streaming as fans will get a peak behind the curtain of what turned out to be a turbulent 2021/22 season on and off the pitch.

With Arsenal focusing their efforts on challenging for domestic success and returning to the Champions League - two tasks that ultimately failed - there was so much that happened over the course of nine months which has increased the level of anticipation for this release.

The awful start to last season, both transfer windows, the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saga and a training ground bust-up will be covered in great detail as the documentary makers had cameras fixed in many rooms at London Colney following the terms of the link-up which were agreed just over a year ago.

Of course, manager Mikel Arteta will feature prominently over the course of the eight episodes as will goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. In fact, in one of the early trailers, the England goalkeeper was spotted letting his anger out in the Arsenal dressing room as he screamed "embarrassing" before slamming down his water bottle.

An explanation for that reaction will become clear during the episodes. In addition, fans will get to see a somewhat unusual method used by Arteta in preparation for a trip to Anfield as he played Liverpool's famous 'You'll Never Walk Alone' anthem through the speakers on the training pitch.

As explained by Ramsdale, the Spaniard opted for this strategy to prepare his players for a hostile atmosphere at Anfield, but it's safe to say the plan backfired as the Gunners were beaten 4-0 last November - with Arteta losing his cool on the touchline with Jurgen Klopp - and for that reason the speakers aren't expected to make another appearance any time soon.

"I’ve never experienced the speakers before. I don’t think they’ll be coming back out," Ramsdale told football.london. "We could all see what the method was, you know, it was one of those stadiums which if it gets on top of you it can be too much. But yeah, his team talks are definitely different.

"I think he keeps it fresh because like you say sometimes he’s writing, sometimes he talks, sometimes he lets some of the lads talk. Keeps you engaged and he lets you into his life as well too. There’s new things we’ve found out about him over the past year that you would never find out unless he wrote a book or something. Before games, I do feel very engaged with what he’s saying."

With that said, Ramsdale did agree with the notion these are the types of scenarios that can bring players closer to a manager: "It just shows you can go and speak to him. You have the fear factor as a young player," he added. "I’ve had different managers where I’ve had more fear than others and I still have the fear factor with him that if he pulls you for a chat, you’re always thinking 'What’s this about?'

"But he’s probably the most approachable one which I’ve had as well so when he has these snippets of his life you can relate to something which he’s talking about which gives you a common interest or common conversation where you can just be relaxed and be yourself."
