Georgia’s 2023 schedule has been a hot topic this offseason among SEC fans.
On paper, the Bulldogs have one of the easiest schedules in the conference, but we know how SEC football can change on a week-to-week basis during the season.
ESPN college football analyst and former Georgia quarterback, Aaron Murray, gave his take on UGA’s schedule in a recent show with The Players’ Lounge.
“I wouldn’t say the schedule is that easy,” Murray said. “I think Georgia is just that much better than everyone else. You give that schedule to 95% of the country (and) that’s a nine (win) and three (loss) at best schedule.”
Georgia’s 2023 schedule is as follows:
- Sep. 2 vs. UT Martin
- Sep. 9 vs. Ball State
- Sep. 16 vs. South Carolina
- Sep. 23 vs UAB
- Sep. 30 at Auburn
- Oct. 7 vs. Kentucky
- Oct. 14 at Vanderbilt
- Oct. 28 vs Florida in Jacksonville
- Nov. 4 vs Missouri
- Nov. 11 vs Ole Miss
- Nov. 18 at Tennessee
- Nov. 25 at Georgia Tech
It’s not the Bulldogs fault that the SEC East isn’t as strong as it used to be. Florida and Missouri are coming off of losing seasons, Kentucky squeaked out a 7-6 year and South Carolina did more with less talent, finishing 8-5 on the season.
Tennessee impressed with an 11-2 season and a big bowl win over Clemson, but the Volunteers have plenty of turnover to deal with, including replacing start quarterback Hendon Hooker.
Georgia doesn’t decide who it pulls from the West, if it was Alabama or LSU, the Bulldogs’ schedule wouldn’t even be a topic. That West opponent this season is Ole Miss, who is always a threat with a Lane Kiffin-led offense.
