Aaron Morley & Gethin Jones to return? Bolton Wanderers predicted team vs Plymouth Argyle

Bolton Wanderers will aim to return to winning ways in League One this weekend when they make the long journey to the West Country to take on Plymouth Argyle.

Bolton make the trip to Home Park aiming to return to winning ways in the league. Defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday was suffered last time out in League One, while there was also a midweek loss in the Carabao Cup at the hands of Aston Villa.

The Green Army did the double over the Whites last season with a 3-0 victory at Home Park. This was followed up with a 1-0 win at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Bolton made six changes in the loss to Villa and more are anticpated against Argyle as Evatt rotates his team around. Evatt is well aware of how Argyle play given their experiences of last season and will set his team up accordingly.

Evatt said: "We’re always thinking about selection and what tweaks to the system we can make. Last night we went a double pivot and 10 and sometimes we’ll be a pivot and two eights. It just basically means how our midfield is formulated so you lay with two holders and one number 10 or one holder or two number eights.

“It depends on the opposition and how they play and how they try to build from the back, but we’ve got good flexibility. Plymouth, we know quite well from last year and seems to be pretty much the same this year so we’ll formulate a plan which might mean us changing a little bit but we’re looking forward to it.”

James Trafford is anticipated to return in place of Joel Dixon. Vice-captain Gethin Jones is also expected to come back in on the right hand side of the back three to link back up with Ricardo Santos and George Johnston.

In central midfield, Aaron Morley may well also come back into the team to partner MJ Williams. Conor Bradley could start once again at right wing-back, with Jack Iredale's defensive qualities meaning he gets the nod over Declan John on the left.

The most interesting decisions come in the final third of the pitch. In the number 10 role, Evatt faces a choice between Dapo Afolayan, Kyle Dempsey and potentially even Kieran Sadlier.

Upfront it is also a question of who partners Dion Charles. With Jon Dadi Bodvarsson out injured, Afolayan, Amadou Bakayoko and Elias Kachunga are the options.

Bolton Wanderers predicted team vs Plymouth Argyle: Trafford; Jones, Santos, Johnston; Bradley, Williams, Morley, Iredale; Dempsey; Charles, Afolayan.
