Aaron Mooy is Celtic's 'main man' as former Parkhead defender delivers Matt O'Riley form assessment

Aaron Mooy is Celtic's 'man of the moment' and the likes of Matt O'Riley will have to wait because the Australian is undroppable.

That is the view of former Parkhead defender Mark Wilson who says the bang-in-form midfielder has been a revelation under boss Ange Postecoglou. Mooy was brought in from the uncertainty of a cut-short spell in China and struggled initially to break in to a Celtic side brimming with midfield options in Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Englishman O'Riley.

But since his outing at the World Cup the 32-year-old has dominated the engine room with two goals and two assists in his last four games including a sweet lob in the Hoops' 4-1 win over St Johnstone on Sunday. Mooy has already taken the plaudits of Postecoglou and others but Wilson believes he is the man of the hour and must face Rangers in the Viaplay final at Hampden.

He told Sky Sports: "The man of the moment is Aaron Mooy when he can produce a goal like he did yesterday. He had a hand in everything and has been a fantastic find for the Celtic manager this season.

"He's the main man at the moment. I know Kyogo is getting the goals. Six weeks ago I would have still gone with Matt O'Riley but the most impressive thing about this Celtic side is that when a guy like O'Riley is off form and has to drop out, then the replacement takes up the mantle perfectly.

"There are big games coming up in the next few weeks including the League Cup final I think Aaron Mooy will be in that side."
