Aaron McEneff joins Australian club Perth Glory after leaving Hearts

Aaron McEneff is leaving Hearts to join Australian club Perth Glory for an undisclosed fee.

The former Shamrock Rovers midfielder will complete the move Down Under once he secures a visa and international clearance.

Derry man McEneff, 26, joined Hearts from the Hoops on transfer deadline day in February 2021.

And he played his part in the Jambos promotion from the Scottish Championship to the Premier League.

McEneff made 36 appearances in total and scored five goals but Hearts have decided to cash in.

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson said: “Aaron indicated his desire to move on if he couldn’t get more game time.

“We have a compact squad but it’s laden with quality and nobody is guaranteed playing time, so when this transfer came up it made sense for everyone.

“Aaron has played an important part in our journey back to the top of Scottish football and he goes to Australia with our best wishes.”

Hearts said the transfer fee was good business for the Edinburgh club and sporting director Joe Savage said: “Aaron will make an impact in the A-League.

“He’s a great lad who has made some important contributions on the pitch over the past 18 months.

“We thank him for all of his efforts at Hearts and we wish him and his young family all of the best in Australia.”
